September-December 2012 Programme

ST. LAWRENCE JEWRY-NEXT-GUILDHALL

Tuesday organ concerts, 1300-1345

September to December 2012

Welcome to the autumn season of our Tuesday lunchtime organ recitals, reputedly one of the longest- running in London. Esteemed City organist Jonathan Rennert, of St. Michael’s, Cornhill,  kicks off the series with a celebratory programme of Bach plus English composers.. New this season is our collaboration with the Eric Thompson Trust for young organists. The St. Lawrence Jewry organ series is renowned for showcasing artists in the early stages of their careers, with our John Hill memorial recitals featuring star international performers (May/June) and our Sixth Form series  presenting promising talent of school age(February/March). Now we have a new addition to the fold: four brilliant organists who have all at some stage been beneficiaries of the Eric Thompson Trust will be playing on the first four Tuesdays in October, and there will be information available on those dates about the Trust and its work. On December 11th we welcome back two trumpeters, Edmund Higham and Gareth Hoddinott, and the last Tuesday of this year’s series will be our seasonal music and readings for Christmas, an event for all to join in,  led by the Vicar and the choir of St. Lawrence Jewry.
