Christopher Webb Exhibition

In 2013 several windows in St James' Church, Finschampstead were vandalised.  One of these windows turned out to be by Christopher Webb, although this knowledge has been lost within the church over the years.  This started the research by Rev'd Canon John Edwards, Associate Priest at Finchampstead and California, into the works of this little published but well-known and popular stained glass artist of the mid 20th century.

2016 is the 50th anniversary of Christopher Webb's death and a good time for a reassessment of his achievements. An exhibition entitled, "The Splendour of Light", is set from Tuesday 4th to Friday 28th October 2016 in St Lawrence Jewry to showcase some of his sketches and cartoons, which will provide a fascinating and unusual insight into his ideas and the ways in which they were modified by input from other interested parties.  To know more about the exhibition, please click the leaftlet.

There is a special exhibtion launch on Monday 3rd October at 5:30pm where Rev'd Canon John Edwards will give a short talk about his research.  Caroline Swash,  an artist, historian, and lecturer whose specialism is stained glass, will also give a talk about her book "The 100 Best Stained Glass Sites in London".  Signed copies of the book will be available at a special price of £25 (Retail Price £35) only during the launch.  Exhibition is open for public but for catering purposes, please contact Katrina if you are attending the launch.
