CHURCH ADMINISTRATOR & VERGER (FULL TIME)
St Lawrence Jewry is seeking a highly organised and committed individual to take up the role of Church Administrator and Verger, supporting the ministry and mission of this busy civic church in the heart of the City of London.
This full-time, permanent position offers a salary of £35,000 per annum, working 35 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 9:30am – 5:30pm), with some flexibility required for evening and weekend duties (for which agreed time of in lieu or overtime may be applicable).
This role lies at the heart of the church’s day-to-day life, primarily undertaking administrative and organisational responsibilities with reasonable practical and ceremonial duties. As Administrator, the postholder will manage communications, church records, office systems, service logistics, bookings, event support, management of ‘The Friends’, oversee the daily care of the building, and offer a warm welcome to all who visit. As Verger, they will assist in the preparation and delivery of worship and civic events.
The successful candidate will have excellent administrative and interpersonal skills, confidence with IT systems and basic financial tasks, the ability to work flexibly, proactively, and independently in a small, dedicated team. Previous experience in a similar setting is desirable, but training will be given in aspects of the role.
